What was the reason Ethan left 90210?

It was both. Dustin Milligan wanted to leave as he didn't enjoy playing Ethan and the producers decided to write him out as he wasn't very popular with the fans of the show, so it was both and you were right about them both. I never liked Ethan either, especially after he tried to split Dixon & Silver up in the Season 1 finale, as going after Silver after knowing her for how many years and suddenly declaring his undying love for her???
