Is the Squier Custom Vibe Telecaster 50's really that great of a guitar?

I am looking at getting a new guitar and I have heard nothing bad about this guitar. Should I buy one? I am looking at this or a MIM TELE or MIM STRAT? I currently own a MIM Strat 2001. Looking for something different and I know that Fender updated the standard strats in 2006 and they sound a lot better. Anyone who has played the Squier please let me know what you think. Thanks. Side note..if the squier was a fender I would definitely buy it...just having issues with it being a squier. I know their quality can be suspect. Thanks!
