The side of my foot has a triangular bruise and its a bit swollen, is it broken?

I've fractured metatarsals 3 times. It always hurt to walk on them, so I don't think yours is broken. However, a bone may be cracked....the amount of bruising does indicate a more severe injury. When in doubt, it is always wise to have it examined by a doctor.
