Need advice on a break up w/ex-girlfried. Please tell me your opionion.?

I been with my ex-girlfriend for almost two years. Probably broke up twice since we were together but we manged to always get back together. As for the relationship I always made sure she was my number #1 priority in my life. Recently we had an argument about her son who is 4yrs old. The argument was during lunch because her son loves to just grab her food while she eats. All I told her was that she should not give in and tell him to finish his food that he has before she shares her lunch. Her son is okay but at times he is very rowdy and she gives in to him when he throws his fits. Well she did it like what I said and I pretty much went on silent mode. The whole day I did it say anything, she was so mad that she broke up with me. I tried to talk to her and maybe she reconsider but all she said to me was that she loves me but is not in love with me. So I left it at that. It's been a week since I spoke with her but she contacted me, I thought it was going to be that she missed me but it was to ask for her stuff back that I have. So with that being said does this mean that there is no hope on getting back together. I really do care and love her very much. Has this happened to anyone and they got back with their ex or am I wasting my time. Please tell me what you think....Thank you.
