Air conditioner in ford focus broken?

2002 ford focus air conditioner is not working it is fully charged and the ac light comes on but blows warm air. when under the car i noticed that pump will kick on for 3-5 seconds then kick off and on again continually as if on defrost ? ? if any experienced mechanics please help thank you
